Nearly 55,000 families have reportedly been impacted by the weather, with their items and shelters damaged.

Persistent storms over the recent period have intensified the already dire circumstances of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted residents in the territory, as stated by relief organizations.

"Horrendous" Weather Poses Serious Threats

A representative detailed the weather overnight as "awful", with precipitation so heavy that around 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.

"These conditions was truly difficult for the people. The heavy rains were so strong... And the gusts were so powerful," noted the spokesperson.

Officials express extreme worry that young ones living in tents in wet clothing will fall victim to hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Fatalities and Significant Damage

Health authorities have stated that one baby has succumbed from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures due to the storms.

Further statements suggest a greater fatality count. Authorities stated that multiple homes had totally fallen and many others had been partly destroyed.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by rains.
  • More than 40 emergency refuges severely flooded.
  • Numerous individuals forced to relocate again.

Relief Operations Seen as Inadequate

Agencies have stepped up deliveries of tents, warm covers and clothing since the ceasefire started, but they emphasize there is remains not enough aid entering.

"Officials are operating tirelessly to provide that assistance and to hand it out, but the scale of the requirements is so immense that we are faced with a great number of individuals and children who are really suffering every night," stated one representative.

Long-Term Issues and Agreement Plans

The second phase of the truce involves plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the withdrawal of military forces, and other provisions.

Relief groups have underscored the necessity for "increased and sustained relief to meet immediate and long-term requirements."

The war was triggered by an attack in late 2023. Later campaigns have resulted in a significant number of lives lost in the territory, according to medical reports.
